How Maldaba collaborated with King's College to create a web based resource to help reduce the stress related to insulin management.

Many people with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) will require insulin as their diabetes progresses. It is well known that people with T2DM have barriers towards insulin, and it is often delayed by up to five years putting them at further risk of diabetes problems.
Maldaba worked with King's College London as part of their DIME study by conducting two workshops with specialist healthcare staff and patients with type 2 diabetes.
As part of the study patients who have recently attended or been referred to insulin education were interviewed to determine barriers to insulin self-management, views on current education courses and their suggestions for additional support.

The key factors identified were the lack of a trusted single source of useful information, and often that the content that could be found was either in Word or PDF documents not suitable for smaller screens, or on websites not optimised for mobile devices.

With content provided by the specialist healthcare staff Maldaba created a responsive website using the WordPress self hosted version and the Timber plug-in which uses the Twig templating engine.

The provided content was specifically grouped into sections and designed so that key information could easily identified.

The DIME study is till ongoing so we currently have no further information with regard to how successful it has been, but initial feedback from patients that attended the workshops was extremely positive.
I wish something like the DIME website had been available when I was first diagnosed. The stress in my life would have been greatly reduced.
